Re: Debenhams now closing stores.

As long as they put Elmbridge Museum back - I have no objections! There was talk to move Weybridge Registrar office above it. Would anyone want a Civil Partnership their - much better at Oatlands!! I thought that some bright spark had wanted to close Weybridge Library and transfer to Walton on Thame...

Re: Elmbridge Roads

Makes you question the intellect and abilities of politicians.....save some money by years of underspending, create a huge problem that eventually can’t be ignored, spend a huge amount solving said problem, repeat from step one. I always assume it's save money by years of under spending because the...

Re: Debenhams now closing stores.

Business rates have been cut during the budget:- The Chancellor promises to help small shops by cutting business rates by a third for all retailers in England with a rateable value of £51,000 or less. That will mean an annual saving of "up to £8,000 for up to 90% of all independent shops, pubs, rest...

Re: Debenhams now closing stores.

They say it is a three-five year programme to close these failing stores and will not start till after Christmas. Mr Bucher said in a statement that the additional 40 stores earmarked for closure were "currently contributing positively" to the business, but added: "However, rolling forward current t...

Re: Trains taking the Strain

Started to wonder how this can happen in a modern industrialised country.........then I remembered that Chris Grayling is the minister responsible for Network Rail Indeed but to be fair the problems with the railways started long before Chris Grayling got involved. Goes back to George Stephenson?

Re: Licence to Bike

https://news.sky.com/story/drivers-could-have-to-give-way-to-cyclists-and-pedestrians-under-highway-code-shake-up-11528398 Honestly, most car users look before opening a car door mainly for cars so that their door is not knocked off the car - at the same time obviously looking for cyclists! This rea...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

The developers of stompond lane originally planned for a doctor’s surgery. They had three schemes which they put out to public consultation. The feedback for the doctor’s surgery was (1) it wasn’t required and (2) traffic implication concerns. It’s all documented on the planning portal. 1) I assume...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

So basically, the developers wanted too much money to make it viable. (Stompond lane) Typical developers put a Doctors Surgery in the development proposal and then charge too much for it. (and then change the proposal after it had been agreed by the council!) Similarly they approached the developers...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

This is the clever bit about Brexit . Once the Medicine and food runs out and there are 50% fewer doctors and nurses, there will be a huge reduction in the elderly and vulnerable population, thus improving GP services as a concern before they are sold off as a job lot to the USA! Not true of course...

Tried Sushi Wakyo on Bridge Street yesterday - seriously good food, highly impressive - it takes a lot to get me to review a restaurant!

The Bento Boxes and Maki Rolls are amazing!

Definitely going to this place again!
