Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

I get what you're saying MT, but when the Managing Director of the CCG, and their Head of Engagement both tell you that Walton Hospital is not suitable to meet long term health needs of Walton residents and is only a temporary measure alarm bells should ring.

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Consultation update The closing date for comments on the proposal is midnight on 30 September. The CCG had neglected to include this on their publicity material but, I am told, they have now included it on their website. The email address is: contactus.nwsccg@nhs.net Fort House patients are being n...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Musical Teapot - you may have missed my post of 04/09. I asked the same question. I've copied below my question and Nikki Mallinder's response (she is the Project Lead for the CCG) Funding Now that NHS England has agreed to fund 100% (as opposed to the 66% previously agreed by them) does this mean y...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

...and traditionally the cost of the move would have been borne by the practice. I would presume that as the NHS / CCG has no funding, the idea of raiding the CIL was floated. The CCG applied to NHS England for funding, initially being given 66%. CIL funding was agreed at 34%. Subsequently, NHS Eng...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Musical Teapot. Again, many thanks for your helpful comments. The CIL report is one of the very few documents I have seen. Can you post here. Or PM It to me? There are many arguments I think, but for now (1) Are there sufficient GP services in Walton? (2) if not where should they be placed? And (c) ...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Musical Teapot - please don't misunderstand, I have no issue with the Practice Partners realising an asset they invested in. That said, the CIL fund is not infinite and I don't quite get why limited public money should be used so that they get a bigger profit from the eventual sale. But that is not ...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Benbow - the CCG told me that they are 'required' to look at alternative sites. You, and others, may recall two or 3 years back that the development of Stompond Lane was going to include a GP Practice. The CCG looked into that, but as it would cost a few million pounds, funding was denied (I forget ...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Musical Teapot - many thanks for that. On funding though, the Practice is not contibuting to the cost of the move. When they first applied for change of use planning, they stated that proceeds from the sale would go towards any relocation. However, that application was made prior to funding applicat...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

John at Walton - so far as i am aware they never ran a surgery from the hospital. There is a Health Centre across the road and i am told this is where they were originally. Interestingly, planning officials originally said that change of use was not required to operate from the hospital, but on chec...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Benbow - you're right. Fort House Surgery is private ownership, not an NHS property. Any move will be at NHS expense, subsidised by the local CIL fund via Elmbridge Council. Money from the subsequent sale of Fort House will go to the partners of the Practice.

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Paul H 1 're parking. The CCG has already intimated that they will be reliant on road side parking. The current spaces at the hospital are used for hospital purposes. Even if, as you say, this can be open to negotiation, where would those current users go?

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Regarding hospital services: there were plans to extend hospital services (you may have seen the signage relating to The Hub). This was to include additional specialist services, adult mental health support and so on. The idea being that Walton (and other Elmbridge) residents wouldn't have to travel...
