Re: Old Birds Eye site -- work in progress?

What a mega job for a small concern! They did a great job as I am unaware of any problems over the years and the building appeared completely soundproof! Later on a special covering was applied to each pane to reflect sun's rays.

Old Birds Eye site -- work in progress?

Perhaps mentioned elsewhere but the other day I noticed some scaffolding at the station end of the Birds Eye building with around half a dozen workmen so perhaps this means a start to a huge demolition job? The glass alone in this building must be worth a fortune -- huge thick pains. I think some of...

Re: PA Housing

Thanks Roy. It's no big deal really but perhaps makes our town look untidy. Any idea when work on demolishing WH Smiths and Boots is due to begin - another big upheaval I guess!

PA Housing

Nice to see the scaffolding start to come down on the old Wellington development leaving quite an attractive building. Pity the same cannot be said for the PA housing development across the road. No sign of any workmen there for over 18 months now! Does anyone know why work appears to have stopped f...

Re: PA Housing

Still no sign of any work in progress on this site -- must be about a year now so clearly there is a big problem somewhere along the line!

PA Housing

Has work completely stopped on the building with PA Housing sign on front - opposite the Wellington in the High St.? Scaffolding has been up for ages with no sign of any workmen apart from the occasional glimpse of a sort of watchman on the ground floor. I just wonder if this project has been affect...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Wasn't there going to be a surgery and nursing home etc on the Stompond Lane site but I think all this was knocked on the head to squeeze in more homes for sale. Yes, I agree, we like other parts of the country, could face a real dilemma with a lack of doctors as most I have spoken too can't wait to...

Re: Mini tornado ?

Met Office think this hot spell will last until October so imagine many more freak incidents! Some of the plants in my garden -- the few that have survived are almost in bloom -- would normally flower in Sept.

Re: More depressing than Brexit!

I seriously think there is a need for a new 'middle of the road' party as both Labour and the Tories appear to have lost the plot and have so many extreme divisions within their ranks. We used to have the Lib Dems as a fall back but sadly they are so wishy washy nowadays. I suspect I am not alone in...

More depressing than Brexit!

I read that Boris is now the clear leader to replace May which is more depressing than Brexit and worse still shows the chronic lack of judgement by those who ‘rule’ us! Should this ghastly event happen, the break up of the Union I feel will be inevitable as he, like many others, could not care less...
