Re: Aldi coming back

If Aldi return, it could prove the end of M & S!

Re: PA Housing

Still no sign of any work in progress on this site -- must be about a year now so clearly there is a big problem somewhere along the line!

PA Housing

Has work completely stopped on the building with PA Housing sign on front - opposite the Wellington in the High St.? Scaffolding has been up for ages with no sign of any workmen apart from the occasional glimpse of a sort of watchman on the ground floor. I just wonder if this project has been affect...

Re: Fort House Surgery - relocation to Walton Community Hospital

Wasn't there going to be a surgery and nursing home etc on the Stompond Lane site but I think all this was knocked on the head to squeeze in more homes for sale. Yes, I agree, we like other parts of the country, could face a real dilemma with a lack of doctors as most I have spoken too can't wait to...

Re: Mini tornado ?

Met Office think this hot spell will last until October so imagine many more freak incidents! Some of the plants in my garden -- the few that have survived are almost in bloom -- would normally flower in Sept.

Re: More depressing than Brexit!

I seriously think there is a need for a new 'middle of the road' party as both Labour and the Tories appear to have lost the plot and have so many extreme divisions within their ranks. We used to have the Lib Dems as a fall back but sadly they are so wishy washy nowadays. I suspect I am not alone in...

More depressing than Brexit!

I read that Boris is now the clear leader to replace May which is more depressing than Brexit and worse still shows the chronic lack of judgement by those who ‘rule’ us! Should this ghastly event happen, the break up of the Union I feel will be inevitable as he, like many others, could not care less...

Promotion for RAAB

Dominic Raab has been appointed Brexit Secretary by Theresa May after David Davis resigned from the government.
Mr Raab, who is currently housing minister, was a prominent Leave campaigner during the 2016 referendum.

Pity he does not represent the bulk of his constituents on this matter.

Re: Boots /Whsmith site to be demolished.

Perhaps this item in today's BBC news sums it up? Britain's town centres are "in big danger of becoming ghost towns in the future" if immediate action is not taken, warns a former retail chief. Bill Grimsey, former head of Wickes, Iceland and Focus DIY, launches his second report into the future of ...

VM HiFi - High St

A friend commented the other day that there is a CLOSED notice on this High St shop. Hope it's not a permanent closure as this must surely be one of the most useful helpful long standing shops in Walton - a real gem and closure would be another nail in Walton's coffin!

Amazon muscle

The demise of local shops looks likely to intensify as Amazon beefs up its assault on UK supermarkets - where will it all end? The outcome according to below article is that consumers will have less choice. High Streets as we know them could change dramatically and become one large coffee shop, eati...

Re: Public Spaces Protection Order - Walton on Thames

News of the splendid Bayeux Tapestry coming to the UK reminded me of a visit to Normandy a few years ago to view same but it was a tour of all the war graves that left the biggest impression. All these brave young men and women who gave up their lives so we could enjoy our freedom in this marvellous...
