Hersham lidl delayed? Late 2018?

Post by Waltonwatcher » Mon Feb 06, 2017 7:12 pm

http://thehershamhub.co.uk/construction ... idl-store/

According to Hersham hub site has faced some delays and could start construction in Spring with 18 months build time. So almost 2 years off.

See what happenes with Aldi in mean time. I can see many travelling to Hersham if the Aldi moves completely out of Walton.

M and S store goes to commitee on 20/02/2017. 2 wrote in favour of it and 7 against. I don't see it being rejected based on the complaints so far. See what happens.

The application seems to be basically changing the signage from Aldi to M&S. Not much grounds for refusal there!

Lidl delayed to early 2019! Been investigating contamination for nearly 18 months! Food shop on a contaminated site? Hmmm

Surely, planning permission wasn't granted to build on another contaminated site?

Is anyone able to provide a reasoned argument for why planning permission should not be granted. Seems to me we’d have a lot of derelict waste land we’re it not possible to remediate and build on sites like this

It seems to me that some people would rather we leave sites contaminated rather than clean them up and put them to use.

Either that or some people just have an anti-council agenda of course. (Silly smiley deliberately omitted).

Any news on the new shop opening. I was thought it was due in autumn this year.

I don’t want to miss anything

Spring 2019 is last update on Hersham Hub. They are currently recruiting staff. This update was given Sept 2018.
