NHS North West Surrey CCG is working with local health and care partners to launch The Big Picture - a series of events for local people to join an open and honest discussion about the future of care delivered outside of hospital.
The Big Picture campaign launches on Tuesday 2nd October with a drop-in event at The Ship Hotel in Weybridge (3pm – 8pm) with further roadshow style events planned in Woking and Staines. These events will be an opportunity to describe the many different services that make up ‘out of hospital’ and ‘urgent’ care, and how these are changing and improving to provide more support for local people across the whole North West Surrey area.
People living across Elmbridge, Runnymede, Spelthorne and Woking are encouraged to come to an event and share what matters to them about health and social care.
Local GP, Dr Asha Pillai explains more: “The majority of health and care support happens outside our main hospitals but we know the system isn’t working as well as it could. Increased demand from a growing population, the changing needs of people living with long-term conditions such as diabetes and heart disease, and continual difficulties in recruiting the right staff are all putting pressure on our health and care system. If we can improve local services and the way they work together we can help keep people well for longer and, at the same time, reduce the burden on some of our urgent and emergency services.”
