Hersham Sports and Social Club

A social club on Hersham Road since 1921, with over 400 members, weekly bingo, live music and dance classes. Main hall events are open to non-members.

Hersham Sports and Social Club has been going since 1921 and now has over 400 members, but the point most people miss is that its main hall events are open to anyone, member or not.

About

The club was established in 1921, originally as Hersham Comrades, and is affiliated to the Club and Institute Union. Membership stands at over 400.

Who it is for

Adults, and their families. The club welcomes new members and their families, and it is explicit that events in the main hall are open to non-members as well.

Activities

Weekly bingo, live music nights, dance classes, karaoke and discos, with specialty evenings covering rock and roll, country and blues. The club also has a snooker lounge, darts, pool tables and sports on screen.

When and where

The regular pattern is live music on Tuesdays from 7pm, bingo on Wednesdays at 7pm, dance classes on Thursdays, and rotating Friday entertainment across blues, country and rock and roll. The club is on Hersham Road.

Joining or taking part

First-time membership costs £35 a year when joining between January and March, which covers a door fob, a rulebook and a company share. Renewal is £30 a year in January. Anyone can attend a main hall event without joining.

Getting there

The club is on Hersham Road. Hersham station serves the village.
