Surrey is undergoing local government reorganisation: the current county and borough structure is due to be replaced by new unitary councils, with Walton-on-Thames and Hersham expected to fall within East Surrey Council from 1 April 2027. Until then, services continue via Elmbridge Borough Council and Surrey County Council, using the links below.
Elmbridge Borough Council
Elmbridge Borough Council is responsible for most local services in Walton-on-Thames and Hersham including planning, housing, parks, bin collections and leisure facilities.
Surrey County Council
Surrey County Council is responsible for roads, schools, libraries, social care, and some other strategic services.
NHS & Health
NHS services in the area are managed by NHS Surrey and Sussex Integrated Care Board (formed 1 April 2026 from the merger of NHS Surrey Heartlands and NHS Sussex). The nearest general hospital with A&E is St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey.
